Reverse Engineering?! Oh my...

REVERSE ENGINEERING

For this weeks project we are reverse engineering an object. If you don't know what that is, it basically means that i will be taking a real life object and creating a Rhino model of it as accurately as i can with all its parts. This will be a 3 week long process so it will hopefully be enough time to finish! The first week of the project we select 3 possible objects to design in Rhino, something complex enough to be interesting but not too much that it cant be done in the time frame given. This made things really hard for me to decide what to do. I wanted to choose something that had a lot of parts but I could still model somewhat easily, simpler geometric shapes are probably best. Here are my choices and why I chose them and what i assume their difficulty level will be like to model.

 Bearguy Gunpla Model Kits
5/5

This option is the one I'm most excited about and what I am really leaning towards. Character and doll/toy modeling is what I want to do as a career and feel this would really be great practice for that. These model kits have a lot of parts which I think has good mix of simple and complex shapes.

 CR10S 3D Printer Hotend/Extruder
4/5

I chose this item because i love 3D printing! I have made the most modifications and upgrades to my own personal printer in this area as well and know it quite well and its parts and pieces. I believe this will still be quite a hard because there are a good amount of complex shapes i will need to learn how to make.

Entire 3D Printer (CR10S) Frame
5/5

This one I think would be one of the most complex so I might choose to only make the frame of the printer instead of all the mechanics on the inside. It might be more than I can handle, but still an option if I'm up to the task!

Pair of Gaming Classes
2/5

This is sort of an option for if the other ones become to complex for me. I'm honestly very unsure about my capabilities for this project so want to keep my options open if i end up taking up more than i can  do. This object has a few moving parts and pieces but isn't as interesting or complex as the other options.

My first choice....

These are all my choices for this project but keeping in mind my skill level and what I would find interesting I think the one i would like to do the most is the first option, one of the Bearguy Gunpla model kits. I think using a kit that is already in pieces that I have to build will really help me to learn the parts and how they go together for the project and make designing each part much easier, as it can easily be taken apart and put back together again as many times as i need. Anyways, that's all for today, Keep on crafting! See you next time!
