Makin me a Pattern

Patterns! who doesn't love a fun pattern!? I had so much fun with trying to decide the direction i wanted to go in for this. There are just so many ways to make exciting patterns! I found a lot of great ideas and inspiration but i decided to go with sort of a quilted look pattern with a cute little twist.

INTO THE PROJECT
Now, i did kind of mess up for this project and forgot to start blogging it from the beginning. Once i decided on my theme and started working I completely lost track of time until i noticed that i was almost done! I did begin with deciding that i wanted to use a little character such as in the penguin example picture above.
I decided to make a cute little strawberry character!
I then added sort of a "patch" looking zone to give it a quilted appearance.

Now that i have my character, i decided how to make the pattern by making it look like hes actually rolling around in the pattern.

I then duplicated it and moved them into their proper places using move and connecting to the edges manually in order to get the pattern i wanted in the right order. This is the design i actually loved and ended up deciding on. In this pattern i kept the strawberry rolling through the entire pattern and once it got to the end, it would continue where it left off as if it was rolling off the edge.

I did run into an while creating this that I will need to remember for next time:
You cannot color it and then move any of the parts, it will leave empty spaces! I had to manually adjust the little strawberry in the line art in each individual square before coloring, I could not copy the first fully colored and rotate it! This made the process take a lot longer but i think it turned out amazing. I also loved that i was able to just try out all different kinds of color combinations with the layer function to see what i liked really easily once i got the hatch down.

BONUS!
Here is another way i had the pattern before i decided on the final design, this design instead of having the strawberry going off the edge, it stopped and reset at every beginning and end point. Which one do you like better?

That's all for today's project, Keep on crafting! Goodnight!
